Formatting/Grading Considerations:
Remember: this homework assignment is worth more than other homework assignments, so more effort,
editing, and discussion is expected; it is a comprehensive review, “big” paper.
**If you are trying to complete all of the questions and struggle to answer each of the essay questions
because you aren’t sure the content is present in the film, you may consider adding or supplementing
your paper by watching an extra one (in addition to the one you’ve already watched) of the movies or tv
shows to make sure you have adequately responded to the essay questions. This should not be required
but I understand that not all films/shows may have the same depth of content on certain subjects. **
• Double Spaced, Word Document or Word Compatible document, no less than 2 full pages,
standard font style and size. With these many questions, it should be easy to get more than 2
pages and anticipate it realistically being between 3-4, especially if you are giving the proper
weight and depth to a paper worth this much of your final grade.
• Pages Numbered at the bottom.
• Clearly label the question number you are responding to by either using the number as listed
above, or you may retype the text of the question and underline or bold as a section heading. In
other words, the questions must be labeled and organized by the way they are organized in the
assignment sheet. I need to be able to identify where each response to each question begins and
ends. Do not use an unlabeled essay format without distinction of which question you are
responding to.
• Must use the concept definition and cite parenthetical to the textbook for every single concept
required and mentioned. You can use (Ch 2, section xyz) style or (Dubrin Ch 4) or (Page 156) all
are acceptable but required. Also include works cited at the end, even if repetitive.
• Use a visual indicator of the textbook concept you are using by bolding, underlining, or
highlighting the term. This helps you and helps me. It helps you make sure you met the
requirement of using a textbook concept and helps me make sure I am finding and seeing your
required content items.
• Discuss and give examples to explain your reasoning and support. This is a senior level course.
This is a “major” paper in the course. I am expecting depth, breadth, thoughtfulness,
contemplation. In other words, short, brief, abrupt, responses will be less than expected.
• Appropriate grammar, punctuation, capitalization, word choice, writing level, organization, and
sentence structure.
• It is required that you use the textbook as support for your responses; Only after exhausting the
textbook and information from your video selection, if at that point you need more material to
complete a full reasoning and support, you are permitted at that point to look for sources out of
the documentary/movie/show and the textbook.
• Refer to General Written Grading rubric in syllabus for additional grading considerations.
