For written work due Week 7, you will imagine you are a tutor for our course and will teach your peers how to factor.
What to submit: A VIDEO that you create where you teach your peers how to factor
What to do:
- Create/find your own example (different from the lectures notes and video examples) of each of the different types of factoring below:Factoring by grouping (See the Appendix D Part One Video 2 from 10/13 materials found here (Links to an external site.))Factoring a trinomial with leading coefficient 1 (See the Appendix D Part One Video 3 from 10/13 materials found here (Links to an external site.))Factoring a trinomial using the ac-method (See the Appendix D Part Two Video 1 from 10/14 materials found here (Links to an external site.))Factoring a difference of squares (See the Appendix D Part Three Video from 10/15 materials found here (Links to an external site.))
- Record a video of yourself explaining the details – step by step – of how to factor each of these 4 different types. You will need to demonstrate/illustrate each step of the work so that your peers can see the work in the video; it can’t just be audio.
- Conclude by giving reminders of things that you’ve learned along the way (e.g. when should you use each type, “don’t forget to…..”, etc.)
If you come prepared when you’re ready to record, the video will likely be around 5-15 minutes.
