Replying to Discussion Thread

In this discussion, describe any and all computer experience you have entering this course. Include items such as (but not limited to):

• Would you classify yourself as a novice user, competent user, or highly competent user? Explain why.
• Any certifications.

Running short on time, I’m hoping someone can help out by creating a 200-word reply to these two students below. I’ve already submitted my response.

Student Post (1) : I finding it rather difficult to find experience within this course. I took it as an elective because it always interested me. I do not have any experience with Excel but I do have some experience with Google Sheets as I use it to write programs for my athletes and I have heard that it is rather similar to Excel. I have some minor experience in PowerPoint as I have had to use it throughout my education in various classes for presentations. I do not have any experience in Microsoft word as I had to use Google Docs for all of my education so far. I do have some experience with social media in a sense where I consume content on various platforms such as YouTube, Tiktok, Instagram, and occasionally twitter or X after its name change. I do post on Instagram the most out of all the platforms as I use it for mainly business purposes but I am still new to the game and I am just learning about the algorithm, how to reach larger audiences, how to retain attention, etc. I have minor experience posting on YouTube as well but nothing past editing and posting videos. I have no prior programming experience, no database experience, and no database networking experience. I would consider myself a complete novice with no absolutely no knowledge about the subject or even the terminology that I have come across in the first weeks readings. I do not have any certifications either. I would consider myself a complete novice in this realm of computer science solely because I genuinely have no knowledge about the subject professionally, through education, career, or hobbies. It is because of my lack of knowledge about computer science that I decided to take this course and learn more about it since I am guilty of using computers everyday and would like to expand my knowledge on the subject.

Student (2): As of two years ago, I had little to no experience with any office products. Since I began my studies here at Liberty University, I learned to use Microsoft Word as the main application for drafting my papers, discussion boards, and other writing assignments. I also have a small amount of experience with PowerPoint. I used it briefly about three years ago when I was in high school for my online learning. I have extremely limited experience with social media, my most experience is on snapchat and YouTube. I also have a decent amount of experience editing audio, videos, and pictures on Capcut. I have no experience in mobile applications other than using the usual social media app and playing the occasional mobile game. The most programing experience I have was a brief casual introduction to a raspberry pi several years ago with some friends for about two weeks. I was young and immature at the time and I lacked the attention span required to learn coding and programing and as such I gained nothing meaningful from the experience. I have no database experience as far as I know or can remember. The only data networking experience I have relates to the operation and maintenance of an ATAK server, ATAK is a application that connects multiple devices GPS location using mobile data and home Wi-Fi. ATAK allows its users to mark locations on a static GPS map of an area for the designation of objectives or points of interest, ATAK also allows for communication through ping marks as well as a text service similar to SMS. I would classify myself as an extreme novice when it comes to computer science, as I have little to no experience doing basic operations required to execute most simple tasks. I lack any certifications as it relates to computers or cyberspace.
