Role of Nurses in Reforming Healthcare
Nurses play a vital role in healthcare because they constantly communicate with patients and know their concerns and challenges. Numerous people face particular difficulties while making their decisions concerning vaccination or buying prescription drugs, and nurses’ primary task is to make these processes easier for citizens. Thus, effective interaction between nurses and patients enables healthcare professionals to determine individuals’ challenges, allowing medical personnel to take the necessary actions to promote a healthier public.
Undoubtedly, the COVID vaccination mandate, telemedicine, and prescription drug pricing remain relevant issues throughout the years, and nurses significantly influence these processes through communication with patients. Although most people realize the importance of COVID vaccination in the struggle against the virus, numerous citizens still face multiple concerns about its short- and long-term side effects, proving that healthcare professionals must allay these worries to make vaccination effective (Pogue et al., 2020). Since nurses are integral parts of vaccination, they can discuss various concerns with patients to provide them with relevant information and assure them that this process is safe. Telemedicine has also become more widespread today, allowing people to receive decent healthcare regardless of location. Nurses’ goal is to make these services comfortable and accessible for all patients. Likewise, prescription drug pricing is a critical issue today because one in four people in the US faces difficulties paying the cost of their prescription medication, explaining why they avoid taking medicines, adversely affecting their health (Deb & Curfman, 2020). Nurses should effectively communicate with their patients and explore their ability to pay for prescription drugs to prevent severe health problems and develop effective measures to lower medicine prices. As a result, constant communication between nurses and citizens enables nurses to reform healthcare.
In conclusion, nurses regularly interact with patients, explaining why they know individuals’ concerns and problems related to healthcare. This awareness helps healthcare professionals reform healthcare, promote a healthier public, and reduce healthcare costs. Therefore, nurses are advocates in the healthcare system because they consider patients’ challenges and worries and can find the most effective solutions to satisfy individuals’ interests and needs.

Nurses’ Position on Reforming Health Care
In the current healthcare environment, nurses are in a prime position to contribute significantly to healthcare reform that would increase public health and save costs. Nurses are essential in providing patient-centred care and possess the knowledge, skills, and experience to identify, evaluate, and implement innovative solutions to improve healthcare access, quality, and cost.
Nurses are increasingly being called upon to be advocates in the healthcare system, especially regarding COVID vaccination mandates, telemedicine, and prescription drug pricing. Nurses have a unique perspective on health and healthcare, as they are often patients’ first point of contact (Stucky et al., 2021). As advocates, nurses can help to ensure that patients receive the best care possible by working with physicians and other healthcare professionals to improve vaccination rates, promote telemedicine use, and reduce the cost of prescription drugs.
Nurses play a critical role in promoting healthy lifestyles by helping patients understand the benefits of healthy eating and physical activity and warning them of the dangers of overeating and inactivity. In addition, nurses are responsible for educating patients about their healthcare options and helping them to make informed decisions about their treatment. By working with other advocates in the healthcare system, nurses can help to improve the quality of patient care and reduce costs associated with healthcare.
Nurses are ideally suited to take the lead in transforming healthcare to improve public health and save costs. Their knowledge of medicine, experience working with patients, advocacy skills, and understanding of the public’s needs make them ideally suited to help drive change in the healthcare system (Gabrielsson et al.,2020). By working with other advocates, nurses can help improve access to quality healthcare, reduce costs, and maintain patient safety.
