What is a Network Administrator? A network administrator is an IT professional who ensures that an organization’s computer networks, groups of computers that share information with one another, are operating to meet the needs of the organization. They can maintain and troubleshoot computer networks, and employ security principles to keep networks secure and running at an optimal level. Business networks are often complex enough that it takes several employees to set them up and maintain them. These people, called network administrators, have training in computer and peripheral maintenance and repair, networking design, and the installation of networking software. Most companies with a large network employ their own network administrators. This can be quite a lucrative profession.
