Week 2 Summary; Week 3 Preview!

All,

Your focus in week 2 was evaluation using the SOPS survey and addressing medication errors and their outcomes. You shared excellent examples of using the SOPS information to examine your organization as well as a variety of perspectives about dealing with med errors. I look forward to reading your paper about the Christian World View and ethical practice in health care!

The DQs for Topic 3 require you to examine a proposed scenario with poor data trends using a performance improvement theory or model. Consider the theories and models you have learned about and apply to the scenario. Then, you identify a problem with your own workplace or healthcare setting. How would you address this “real” problem? Again, consider the theories and models that can support your decisions.

In Week 3, the CLC agreement is due. In Week 4, the CLC assignment is due. I formed groups for this project. Complete the CLC agreement and begin to work in your groups.

CLC Assessment Description:

This is a Collaborative Learning Community (CLC) assignment.

The purpose of this assignment is to examine quality models used in health care. With your CLC group, create a 12-15 slide PowerPoint on Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S quality models. Include the following in your presentation:

1. A description of each quality model.

2. A brief history of each quality model.

3. A description and examples of how each quality model can be applied to the health care setting.

4. Include a title slide, references slide, and comprehensive speaker notes.

5. Use a minimum of four peer-reviewed, scholarly references as evidence.

Refer to the resource, “Creating Effective PowerPoint Presentations,” located in the Student Success Center, for additional guidance on completing this assignment in the appropriate style.

While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
