Critical Thinking Assignment (85 Points)
Choose one of the following two assignments to complete this week. Donot do both assignments. Identify your assignment choice in the titleof your submission.
Option #1: Fencing a Farmer’s Field
As a farmer, suppose you want to fence off a rectangular field thatborders a river. You wish to find out the dimensions of the field thatoccupies the largest area, if you have 1500 feet of fencing. Rememberthat a square maximizes area, so use a square in your work.Draw several diagrams to express the situation and calculate thearea for each configuration, then estimate the dimension of largestpossible field.
Calculate the area of the field at the point you found in the thirdbulleted item, and then compare your results with the results in thefirst bulleted item.
Requirements:
Your paper should be 4-5 pages in length (counting the title pageand references page) and cite and integrate at least one credibleoutside source. The CSU-Global Library (Links to an external site.) is a great place to find resources. Your textbook is a credible resource.
The introduction should describe or summarize the topic or problem.It might discuss the importance of the topic or how it affects you orsociety as a whole, or it might discuss or describe the uniqueterminology associated with the topic.The body of your paper should answer the questions posed in theproblem. Explain how you approached and answered the question or solvedthe problem, and, for each question, show all steps involved. Be surethis is in paragraph format, not numbered answers like a homeworkassignment.The conclusion should summarize your thoughts about what you havedetermined from the data and your analysis, often with a broaderpersonal or societal perspective in mind. Nothing new should beintroduced in the conclusion that was not previously discussed in thebody paragraphs.Include any tables of data or calculations, calculated values,and/or graphs associated with this problem in the body of yourassignment.Document formatting, citations, and style should conform to the CSU-Global Virtual Library CSU-Global Guide to Writing and APA: Introduction (Links to an external site.). Option #2: Cost of Fencing a Garden
As a property owner, you want to fence a garden which is adjacent to aroad. The fencing of the side along the road must be stronger and cost$5 per foot. The fencing on the other sides cost $3 per foot. The areaof garden is 2000 square feet. Remember that a square maximizes area, souse a square in your work.Draw several diagrams to express the situation and calculate thecost for each configuration, then estimate the dimension of minimumcost.
