2. The following graph shows the approximate number (in thousands) of people who immigrated to Ireland during the
period 2006-2010 ( 𝑡 is time in years since 2000).
a. [4 pts] Calculate the average rate of change (slope) of the number of people who immigrated to Ireland
between 2007 and 2008 with proper units.
b. [4 pts] Explain what the answer in (a) represents in the context of the problem.
