Assignment 1: Workplace Communication

This exercise introduces two different types of leadership behavior: task-oriented and relationship-oriented behavior. Both styles have their advantages and disadvantages and can be used effectively within an organization depending on the situation presented.

Using your textbook, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, explain the difference between task-oriented and relationship-oriented leadership behaviors.

Consider the types of communication used at the workplace, particularly e-mail. Do you believe a leader can successfully use e-mail for task-oriented behaviors, relationship-oriented behaviors, or both in an organization? Give examples to support your response.
