Unit 1 Homework 1 Rubric

After you complete a tutorial, save/print the web page to a PDF. This is always an option in Chrome and is
available from browsers on Park’s campus. Talk to the instructor if you don’t know how to do this. The page
you print should show your name at the top and will be a record of the items that you have completed. See
the diagram below for what must be in each PDF.

Obtaina Linux zoo account and connect

You will use a virtual machine on Linux zoo as part of your assignments. In order to do this, you will need to obtain an account and connect to the Linux zoo environment. These steps are outlined below.

1. Go to

https://linuxzoo.net

and create a free account. To do this, look for the dropdown menu that says Account Links and choose Register for an account.

2. Return to the main page and log in with your email and password. Your control panel will change to the view on the left below. Click Join Queue, and then you’ll see the view on the right. Click then Switch on.

3. Be patient. Once your machine starts, the machine state will change from HALT to RUN.

4. Click on the Connect Tab, then click on JavaScript SSH which should open a new browser tab. If you get a login: prompt, you are good to go.

You will login as work through tutorials as part of your first assignment.

Although your virtual machine will be automatically terminated after a period of inactivity, please try to shut down your running machine when you are finished to help conserve resources on this service.
