05 – Byrne 1998 Small changes

make for big differences and lots of things are out to play, together

Read the attached section from Complexity Theory and the Social Sciences (Byrne 1998). Do not worry about understanding every sentence. Instead, only try to understand the main idea of each paragraph.

• Look at the main ideas from each paragraph. Write a single sentence that summarizes each of these ideas. This is the thesis.

• Write an introduction paragraph for the section of Byrne 1998 that you read—Small changes make for big differences and lots of things are out to play together. Be sure to include the thesis you wrote in #2 and each of the main ideas listed in #1.

• Write a conclusion paragraph for the section of Byrne 1998 that you read—Small changes make for big differences and lots of things are out to play together. Be sure to include the thesis you wrote in #2 and each of the main ideas listed in #1.
