Each week, you will be asked to respond to the prompt or prompts in the
discussion forum. Your initial post should be 75-150 words in length, and is
due on Sunday. By Tuesday, you should respond to two additional posts from
your peers.
Week 4 Discussion
This week we looked at what a function is, and various operations and
properties of functions.
Rideshare companies such as Uber and Lyft often charge a flat fee, in
addition to per mile rates and other fees. Other cab companies may include
per minute rates in addition to the per mile and pickup charge.
Using your own experience or some Internet research (ride.guru or
taxifarefinder.com are great resources):

Write an equation that represents the rideshare or cab company’s rate
for your area. Is this a function? Why or why not?

Using that equation, how much would it cost to go from your home to
your job or other important location?

Which of the parent equations covered this week does your equation
match? What transformations were done to it to get your equation?
When reading your classmates’ posts, reflect on how their equations compare
to yours. Are their fares more or less expensive? If you lived in their area, how
much would it cost you to go to your workplace or another location
