Lyme Disease
Specific Purpose
After listening to my speech, my audience will be able to recall the basics of Lyme disease.
Central Idea
The basics of Lyme include the causes, symptoms with stages, and treatment of the illness.
Introduction
I. Attention Getter:
Picture yourself on a camping trip in one of California’s beautiful woodland area. All around are trees,
bushes, hills, and green grass. Nothing but you, nature…, and killers. Hiding out in the bushes, just
waiting for you to come close enough so they can jump on you. These killers are ticks.
II. Reveal the Topic:
You need to know about Lyme disease so you can take preventative measures. Someday you may
contract Lyme disease and you should know what the symptoms are and know how to quickly act. I
have done extensive research on Lyme disease and that is why I am knowledgeable on this subject.
III. Preview
I will be discussing the causes, symptoms, stages, and treatment of Lyme disease.
