Individual student paper that examines the relationship between indigenous peoples in Canada and
businesses and economic development.
You are expected to scan the Canadian Business Environment through Canadian news media, Academic

Your text should be of 1000-1500 words (double spaced, 12-pt font)
APA format is mandatory.
Minimum of 5 reliable references (Media & Academic).
Each reference MUST be used within the text as citations/quotations.

Grading criteria
Refer to the MBA General Rubric located in Course Overview & Syllabus section of the course portal to
be aware of the main expectations for your written assignments. In addition, be aware of the following
guideline.
The structure of your document should be as follow:
• Cover Page (separated page),
• Introduction,
• Body of the text (don’t write this, but you can use significant headings according to your content:
summary of the main article, other perspectives on the same issue, analysis, discussion, etc.)
• Conclusion,
• References (separated page).
The abstract is not mandatory, but you can write one if you want. Note that it does not replace the need
for a proper introduction, and I do not consider the abstract in the evaluation of this assignment.
The word count is 1000 to 1500 words excluding cover page, abstract and references. You might go a bit
over the word count without penalty; But, too much over the word count limit could reduce the value of
your paper as it might means that you were unable to make decisions about what to keep and what not to
include. You should avoid being under the minimum requirement as it will affect the value of your paper.

Make sure to use APA format properly.
There is a difference between similarity level and plagiarism. It is normal to have some similarity with
other documents, particularly for the document headings and as well for some references. When you
use quotations (“…”) the text will show as similar and that is fine if you respect the APA format by
providing the required information in parenthesis (Author, Year, & the Page number). But, if you do not
use APA format properly, not providing the proper reference(s), it will be considered plagiarized, as you
do not indicate that the text as not been written by you.
Also, you should not use more than 10% of quotations (other authors exact sentences) within a text
because that will lower the value of your input.
All your references MUST be used within the text as citations/quotations.
You may seek support from a librarian or a writing coach to improve your formal academic writing style
following APA format. You could also register to a free workshop or watch the recording of a previous
session.
